Nissan Spring Maintenance Tips

Now that spring is here; you will want to hit the road and have some fun. Of course, you need to make sure that your car, truck, SUV, or minivan is ready for the road. Therefore, you will need to know how to properly de-winterize your vehicle. At McGavock Nissan of Amarillo, we have assembled these helpful spring maintenance tips to help you get going this spring.

  1. Wash And Detail Your Vehicle
The first step in de-winterizing your car is to give it a complete wash and detail job. If you can’t get it done independently, we highly suggest you use a professional service. The purpose of washing and detailing your vehicle is to remove any accumulated dust, dirt, debris, or road salt that may be stuck to your vehicle’s paint and underside. Once the exterior has been completely washed, it should be waxed to protect the paintwork better. Make sure to shampoo and vacuum the carpeting and the floor mats on the interior.
  2. Inspect The A/C System
Chances are that you will be turning on your A/C for the first time this year. Since the temperature will be picking up, you will need to make sure that the A/C is working properly. Check all vents to ensure that you are getting cool air. Also, you will want to change out your air cabin filter at this time. If you notice any issues with your A/C system, be sure to visit our service center for a complete HVAC inspection.
  3. Test The Battery
If you are going on a road trip, then make sure that the battery is properly charged. Test out the battery and check its amperage levels. Also, visually inspect the battery for any signs of corrosion. Corroded batteries will have orange and green splotches on them.
  4. Check the Tires
Good tires are really important when it comes to the performance and safety of the vehicle. Inspect the depth tread and make sure there is no excessive wear. Also, measure the pressure levels to ensure they are all in range. Finally, inspect the sidewalls for any signs of cracking or bubbling.
  5. Inspect Your Wiper Blades
Finally, it is time to inspect your vehicle’s windshield wiper blades. Chances are, you will encounter some rain on the road. Therefore, your wiper blades need to be in good shape. If your windshield wiper blades have any peeling rubber or skip across the glass while in operation, they should be replaced immediately.
